ABOUT US

The Stewiacke & District Volunteer Fire Department services the Town of Stewiacke as well as the surrounding communities of Shubenacadie East, Shortts Lake, Alton, Fort Ellis, Riverside, West St. Andrews, East Stewiacke, Wittenburg and Coldstream areas. 

We provide the following services:

• Fire Suppression

  • Structure, vehicle, other

• Vehicle Extrication (Jaws of Life)

• Medical First Response

• Water rescue (motorized zodiac)

• Other emergency services as required.

Our membership consists of 32 volunteer members. Juniors can join our team at the age of 14 and can then become full members when they turn 18. We supply all training and equipment needed to do the job and are always recruiting. We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm to discuss administration details of the department. On the second and fourth Wednesday of the month we do training beginning at 7:00pm. The third Wednesday of the month consists of truck/equipment checks and the fifth Wednesday is a fun/free night.
